It's not root level. My mistake. You will find it in the /public_html/ or /wwwrooot/.

You can modify the existing .htaccess file by first downloading it to your desktop computer.

I don't use Vista so can't help you there.

Try using the notepad to create a text file name htaccess.txt. Once you uploaded to the web server using FTP, you can rename it to .htaccess. You may have to change the setting of your FTP client to display hidden files.

Hi,

Newbie here. Two questions about your "Modifications to Wordpress URL Rewrite .htaccess" above.

1. Where can I find the .htaccess file on my server? You stated that it is located on the root level, but I'm not able to see it.

2. Let's say I copy your modification above, how do I save it as .htaccess file. Vista doesn't allow me to save it as .htaccess

Thanks so much for any help.

Thank you for expounding on the email outsourcing service. Email has become so critically important in our business that we cannot afford any downtime. So I believe having a dedicate box/rack or outsourcing to a professionally managed service is the way to go. I really appreciate your discussion and the useful tips you provided here.

Yes, I am still reading the Website Optimization book - definitely worth reading.
