Why SEO When You Can Pay For Sponsored Links

Why SEO?Last week, I spoke with a Web designer from an established Web design and development firm in Singapore to find out why many of these companies have not adopted SEO as part of their offering to their clients.

The Web designer questioned the need for SEO when their clients could pay for sponsored links to get visitors to their sites.

I want to know what other people thinks, so I posted this question to my Linkedin community:

Google PageRank Update January 2008

Google PageRankDiscovered that several of the new domains I launched since in Nov/Dec 2007 have increased in PageRank over the past 2 days. So, this time round, Google is pretty prompt in updating the PR ranking.

The last Google PR update was in late Oct 2007 after a long wait of 6 months. During that update, Google penalized many of the sites that sell or buy text links.

Google Serving Different Results for Different Countries

Did you notice that when you typed in “google.com” into your Internet Explorer or Firefox, you would be automatically re-directed to the appropriate google.ccTLD unless you were in the USA or your internet connection was re-routed from a USA ISP.

Since I am situated in Singapore accessing the internet using Singnet, Google.com.sg is my default gateway which serves results relevant to Singapore.

Who Will Be Ranked #1 for SEO Singapore in 2008?

I was in and out of the Number 1 position for seo singapore since my last post on Ranked 1st for SEO Singapore. And I think it’s alright for my ego as long as I am in the top 5.

This week, the last week of Year 2007, this blog was demoted to #3 and #4. LarryLim.net came up number 1 after vanishing from the top 10 for several weeks. And I was thinking what happened to my friend…

SEO Web Design Course Testimonial on YouTube

I have just uploaded a video testimonial on SEO Web Design Course recorded 2 days ago. This video featured Terence Yap of BPI Technology (S) Pte Ltd who attended the SEO Web Design Course on 6 Oct 2007.

Terence registered a new domain and created a new site,
www.MoldReleaseNanoTechnology.com to test out what he learned at the course. To cut the story short, his new site was ranked in the first page of Google for his targeted keywords within 2 weeks. He was very surprised but overjoyed with the results.

Google Top 10 in 19 minutes

After reading Kian Ann’s amazing feat on getting into Google’s 1st Page in 17 minutes, I started a series of experiments to test if such results are reproducible. Yes. I managed to repeat the results again and again.

So far, the fastest result I obtained was 13 minutes for a 7-terms phrase. My newest test done less than an hour ago with the search terms sph search, got into the 8th position in about 19 minutes.
