After about 1 year of publishing content website, I can tell you the top problem I have is getting enough articles – good article to be exact.

I started with writing content articles by myself. It was quite time consuming and honestly I am not a writer. So I started hiring writers at Rentacoder and Elance. It costs somewhere around $5 to $20 per article depending on the length.

Now, I have 2 writers based in Singapore doing articles for me on demand. And I can tell you, this is burning a big hole in my pocket.

Here’s why. I will have to spend hundreds of dollars every month to get enough articles to keep my existing websites “fresh” and also for publising new websites. I can only expect a return on the investment I put in for the articles to come 3 to 6 months later.

However, there may be a cheap and quick fix to my problem. Buying “shared” articles – i.e. you subscribe to those services that give you rebrand rights articles. You will get a number of articles every month. These are not “unique” articles as they are shared by a number of subscribers to the service. However, you can modify the article, you can rewrite them to make them “unique”.

I am going to use such a service to publish content on to blogs. Reason being blog posts get picked up by search engine robots quickly than conventional website. So now I am going to buy some cheap bullets and starting posting 10 articles daily to my blogs!

My previous post reported that I was researching on building niche sites. However, after some thought, I believed I got a better idea. Why not build a niche articles directory instead. In that way I can load it up with my own articles on various niches and also get interesting articles already available in popular article diretories such as www.goarticles.com, www.ezinearticles.com, www.articlewarehouse.com and etc.

I know there may be already too many of such article directories and the search engines may take drastic action to filter out duplicated contents. But then again, never try never know. One thing is for sure, I will need to contribute my own original articles to make my niche directory unique.

Also, I will need to spend some money on paid directory listing and PPC ads to get other to submit their niche articles to this directory. So stay tuned and I will report my progess here.

As mentioned in my previous post, I was researching on niche marketing and came upon an interesting article on building niche sites. The author John Taylor wrote about niche blogsites in his article “How To Build A Profitable Niche Site Within 27 Minutes”.

Experience showed that one of the main advantages of using blogs is that your web page gets to be indexed by major search engines quicker than traditional website. With proper strategy, your niche blogs are likely to outrank your competitors in the search engine results listing. Read about what you need to do here: Profitable Niche Site – Blogging Strategy.

When blogging, I prefer to use Blogger. It is quick, easy and convenient. However, it does lack many advanced features found in other platforms such as Wordpress and MovableType. I suggest that you start with Blogger and as you become better, you can always move to the more sophisticated platforms.

Yahoo Small Business is offering great discount on their domain name registration. I took the opportunity and reserved a domain name relating to niche marketing for my web promotion and search marketing service – MyNicheMarketing.com. After 2 days, I visited my new domain just to make sure that it was ready. What I saw gave me an idea.

Yahoo provides free domain parking and I saw “This site is under construction”. This is not exactly pretty but it tells the truth. And there is a list of topics which you can click and go to the respective sponsored listing powered by Overture.

It was this list of topics that caught my attention. These are keywords related to my domain name which consists of the keyword “niche marketing”. Apparently, some smart engineers wrote a software which extracted the meaning from the domain name and established a list of related keywords. This is the hint to how I should be organising the topics of my new Web site. My website content should also have topics like: web site promotion, marketing online, direct marketing, e-mail marketing, market research and so on.

Now, I can tailor my website to exactly how Yahoo would like to see. Logically, Google and MSN should like the same.

It’s a great lesson and it costed me just $2.99! So hurry, register a domain for your niche market and let Yahoo tells you what content to put in your website.

My effort in creating websites focusing at Singapore related services and products started to generate more Adsense revenue. I have intentionally optimized for Singapore related keywords, that’s what I called Singapore SEO‘ed websites.

It was a year ago when I registered the domain SingaporeBusiness.info and started the website.

However, I did not implement Google ads until this month. One of the reasons was that the low traffic. The traffic started to exceed 3,000 pageviews 2 months ago.

Early this month, I revamped the layout and also the structure of the website and saw a 30% jump in traffic compare with same period last month. Also over the last 10 days since I added Google codes, the average CTR exceeds 6%. This is good news but the PPC is quite low, less than $0.05 per click.

The other website which I revamped was originally a one-page website providing information in buying, selling and exporting Singapore used cars. Since it was first launched, it had been one of my more popular website (based on visitors per content page).

In less than six months, Singapore-Used-Cars.com has already exceed the 3,000 pageviews. I have added 6 more content pages and hope to increase the number of visitors by at least 30%. And I intend to add a least one new content page every week from now on.
